Posted July 2024, but really, this is an eternal post.
My story with mental health is a long and complicated one. Some things I'm ready to share, others I will hold close to my heart for as long as I can. The big thing that I want to share with you, dear reader, is that you're not alone. Whether or not you've experienced mental health crisis in your own life or seen it in other's lives, you should know that there are always those who care.
Recently, I texted the 988 suicide line because of a crisis. While I am not suicidal at this time, I have been before, and the mood shifts I was experiencing were near parallel to that experience. It was only a matter of time. So, me and my crisis counselor came up with a plan to keep me safe. I called my doctor, something I forgot I could do in that moment that she gently encouraged me to do when our conversation reminded me. I have my medicines all sorted out (the trigger) and now things are smooth sailing for a while (I hope).
Never be afraid to reach out. The world is a better place with you in it. ❤️
